Palmistry, also known as chiromancy, palm reading, hand analysis or chorology is one of the oldest of the pseudo sciences, having been practiced in ancient India and Roma in differing formats. The specifics of palm reading and what each of the hand lines means vary somewhat from culture to culture, but most areas of the world have at least some form of hand study as a means of indicating both past lives, previous happenings in the current life, and even what the future is likely to bring. Palmistry in some cultures looks at more than just the lines in the palm. The act of palm reading may look at the shape of the hand, the texture of the skin, how the thumb is set, and the shape and condition of the fingernails. Further, variations between the dominant hand the subordinate hand are compared and can add further emphasis and interest to a complete palm reading. |
