Astrological signs are what comprise the zodiac. The zodiac is divided into twelve parts which gives us the astrological signs as we know it today in Western astrology. The study of astrology is rooted in the belief that your life and the person that you are is sternly governed by the movement and placement of the various signs in the zodiac, depending on which one of them you were born under.

Astrological signs however are not only a western concept. You are probably also familiar with the concept of Indian astrology and the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is a bit similar to western astrology in that it has twelve astrological signs. The Indian system however is slightly different and is based on the concept of Nakshatras.
